Stamped and tested 14k gold, this antique butterfly is so rare, I can find nothing about it. I believe the real large stone is an unrefined Mexican fire opal as the stone is raw with a dent and uneven surface. This large opal catches the light and is filled with fire. It is surrounded by little opals as well. The surface of the gold is beautifully textured as I show in the close ups. So finely done, the artist included all the legs with tiny pinchers. The underside is a gorgeous shiny gold. Weighs a heavy 9 grams and measures 1 1/2 x 1 1/4 inches. Stunning and one of a kind. I know this piece isn't for many, but lovers of these old unbelievable works of art, enjoy!
