The Journey of Hope is The Ability Experience's premier fundraising event, a cross-country cycling trip founded by Pi Kappa Phi members in 1988 to raise money and awareness for people with disabilities. Each summer, members cycle from various points on the West Coast to Washington, D.C., stopping to host "Friendship Visits" with local disability organizations, fostering acceptance and understanding. The journey was inspired by a 1987 solo cross-country bike trip by Pi Kappa Phi alumnus Bruce Rogers, who aimed to deepen the fraternity's engagement with the disability community. As a digital media coordinator for the Transamerica route of the 2025 Journey of Hope, I had the incredible opportunity to document the cyclists' journey from Washington State to Washington, D.C. This book is my way of bringing you along.Through my camera, I captured the stunning landscapes we rolled through—towering mountains, wide-open prairies, serene rivers, and the charm of small-town America. But more than just scenery, this book is about the heart of the journey—the cyclists themselves. You will see their determination, joy, and their unwavering commitment to raising awareness and support for people with disabilities. Each state we crossed brought new beauty, every sunrise ride, every shared laugh between teammates, and every genuine connection with the people we encountered along the way held significant meaning. I wanted to ensure they would never be forgotten, and I have poured those moments into this collection. This book is my tribute to the people who made the journey unforgettable and the mission that drove us forward. Whether you love photography, crave adventure, or are inspired by the mission, I hope these images draw you in and make you feel right there with us. Read more
