The Journey of Hope is The Ability Experience's premier fundraising event, a cross-country cycling trip founded by Pi Kappa Phi members in 1988 to raise money and awareness for people with disabilities. Each summer, members cycle from various points on the West Coast to Washington, D.C., stopping to host "Friendship Visits" with local disability organizations, fostering acceptance and understanding. The journey was inspired by a 1987 solo cross-country bike trip by Pi Kappa Phi alumnus Bruce Rogers, who aimed to deepen the fraternity's engagement with the disability community.As a digital media coordinator for the Transamerica route of the 2025 Journey of Hope, I had the incredible opportunity to document the cyclists' journey from Washington State to Washington, D.C. This book is my way of bringing you along.Through my camera, I captured the stunning landscapes we rolled through—towering mountains, wide-open prairies, serene rivers, and the charm of small-town America. But more than just scenery, this book is about the heart of the journey—the cyclists themselves.
