It briefly covers the evolution of Japanese service rifles, the Japanese numbering system (needed to properly identify each model), the code of every arsenal producing rifles for the Japanese Empire, then a thorough discussion with diagrams of all the major parts of the Type 99 showing their evolutionary process from the rifle’s introduction in 1939 to the hastily assembled substitute rifles of 1945.
