In the spring of 1850 troops were dispatched to establish a fort on the upper Des Moines River in order to protect settlers from the Sioux Indians. The sight was the high ground south and east of Lizzard and Soldier Creeks. By that fall 12 Substantial log buildings were completed.
This beautiful buckle is a nice piece of history to be had. It was USA-made in 1982 by Siskiyou Leather and Buckle Co.
It is kind of heavy, and it fits a 1-7/8" belt
