This beautiful 1950s' cloche is made of very fine orange felt. This hat resembles the cloches that were so popular in the 1930s'. The designer, Mr. John was internationally known in the millinery world in the 40s' and 50s'. The unique shape of this hat is a round crown with a short upturned brim that end in points at the sides. From one side there is a navy & white fluffy feather puff, plus a tall navy feather.Label: MR. JOHNJohn P. John was an American milliner. According to the New York Times, "in the 1940s and 1950s, the name Mr. John was as famous in the world of hats as Christian Dior was in the realm of haute couture".This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
