CHOCOLATE HEDGEHOG CALCITE W/ PYRITE FRO

This spikey little hedgehog is part of a newer discovery in late December 2017 of Chocolate Artichoke Calcite with Pyrite. The aesthetics of this piece are high especially for a brown mineral. Often times brown can be a nice but often dull color for minerals making it difficult to differentiate the little details of the piece with nothing really jumping out at you. That is anything but the case with this piece. This Coco Calcite uses a brown color pallette in a beautiful fade selectively deposited from a light tan yellow to a dark brown black. This adds striking sharpness and dimensionality to the Calcite points giving it an almost animated appearance. The contrast of sparkling little gold Pyrite crystals makea for a perfect contrast and an instant mineral classic combination. One would be hard pressed to find a better color combo for the particular feel one gets when viewing the piece. This small cabinet specimen has a warm and inviting appeal to it.
