"John A. Schneider served as the president of the CBS Television Network from 1965 to 1976. During his time at CBS, he was also the first president of the newly formed CBS Broadcast Group in 1966 and an Executive Vice President of CBS Inc. from 1969 to 1978. Schneider oversaw the CBS Television Network, CBS News, CBS stations, and CBS radio, and CBS was the preeminent broadcast network under his leadership. After leaving CBS in 1977, he became the founding president and CEO of Warner-Amex Satellite Entertainment Company in 1979, where he oversaw the launch of MTV in 1981. He retired in 1985 and passed away in 2019.
